For Moms or Dads who feel that they lack quality time with their children during the week due to work schedules, school or extracurricular activities, Chung’s Tae Kwon Do is a convenient way to bridge that weekday disconnect. There is nothing like the pride you feel after watching your child or parent break a board or pass a belt test for the first time or even the tenth time! In this way, everyone can look forward to progressing together as their skills and belt ranks advance. Attending the dojang is also a fun way for families to network with other parents and siblings who have similar fundamental priorities. Family classes are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays after school and on Saturday mornings, providing more opportunities to grow as a unit.

Children see their parents as role-models for an active lifestyle

Actions speak louder than words. These days, especially with the increase of obesity and type 2 diabetes in children, it’s important for parents to not only be a role model in their careers, but in their activity levels as well. Exercise helps to burn excess sugars in our bodies to prevent the absorption of potential fat calories. Because Tae Kwon Do focuses on the larger muscle groups, burning of calories is more efficient and the body becomes leaner, stronger and healthier. When parents participate with their children in an intensive activity, the children begin to change their perspective and way of life, creating a pattern of living which is more dynamic, active, healthful and lasting.

From issues at work, confrontations in the classroom, to disagreements at the dinner table, martial arts can be a wonderful way for children and parents to work with each other in an environment which is condusive to stress release. Studies have shown that exercise helps with anger and aggression management. By providing a high-energy workout and channelling your inner force into well calculated, intentional movements and strikes, Tae Kwon Do can effectively ease tension. Everyone will feel freer, more relaxed and receptive to each other.

Instead of parents leaving the children for the health club, or a Mom or Dad watching their child passively during a sport, everyone can participate at Chung’s Tae Kwon Do for equitable healthful benefits. Through intensive intervals of cardio and core work, stretching, self-defense and forms, each member of the family receives a quality 60 minute workout. In this way, everyone benefits from time spent in active participation. It is a win/win exercise scenario.
